Set-up
In this NIMH-sponsered trial, 579 children with ADHD Combined Type, aged 7 to 9.9 years, were randomly assigned to 14 months of:
- medication management (titration followed by monthly visits);
- intensive behavioral treatment (parent, school, and child components, with therapist involvement gradually reduced over time);
- the two combined;
- or standard community care (treatments by community providers).

Follow-up
Type or intensity of 14 months of treatment for ADHD in childhood (at age 7.0–9.9 years) does not predict functioning 6 to 8 years later. (Molina B. et.al. JAACAP 2009:48)
